The ACE Lasers AG-2 is the green laser pen for users who want a little more than a dot. It has the same output range as the AG-1, 5–50 mW at 532 nm, laser class 3B, and comes with one pattern cap that projects a shape when fitted. Without a cap you have a focused green dot and, in the dark, a clearly visible beam. Like the AG-1 it runs on two AAA batteries, which are included.

With or without a cap

A pattern spreads the light of the laser over a larger area, so the projected shape is only visible at short distance. For any long-range use, such as pointing out stars or signalling, remove the cap first. The indicative range below applies to the laser without a cap.

Batteries

Two AAA batteries power the AG-2. Keep a spare set in your bag for long evenings, and remove the batteries if the laser will be stored for a while. If you prefer rechargeable power and more reach, the AGP-1 Pro also has a removable pattern lens, with 50–500 mW and an 18650 cell.

Who chooses the AG-2

Users who want one green laser for both night-time pointing and short-range projection outdoors, and who like the convenience of AAA batteries. If you never need patterns, the AG-1 is the simpler option.

Safe use

This is a class 3B laser: direct exposure and reflections from glass, water or metal can injure the eye instantly. Never aim it at people, at the eyes of animals, at vehicles or at aircraft, and never into the sky near flight paths. A pattern does not make the light safer: every part of the projected shape still carries class 3B light. Wear laser safety goggles rated for the wavelength, keep the laser away from children and store it securely.
