Frequently asked questions

What is the most powerful laser pointer you sell?

Our Pro series (AGP, ARP and AVP) has an output of 50–500 mW, laser class 3B, and the VEX-1000 Pro is a 500 mW high-power professional laser. For most users the AGP-3 Pro green laser pointer is the best balance of power, range and handling. Read what milliwatts really mean before you choose.

How far can a high powered laser pointer reach?

Indicatively, a green Pro laser shows a dot on objects at approx. 500 m in daylight, approx. 2 km at dusk and a clearly visible beam up to approx. 5 km in the dark. Red and violet reach less far. Range always depends on light, weather and surface; see our range guide.

Which colour laser is the most visible?

Green. The eye is far more sensitive to 532 nm green light than to red or violet, so a green laser looks brighter and reaches further at the same output. That is why we recommend a green laser pen for bird control and astronomy.

Do I need laser safety goggles?

For class 3B lasers we strongly recommend goggles rated for the wavelength you use (532 nm for green, 650 nm for red, 405 nm for violet), especially during set-up, demonstrations or when reflections are possible. Goggles do not make it acceptable to aim at people. Our laser safety glasses guide explains what to look for.
