The pink ACE Lasers red-dot laser is our play laser for cats and dogs, in a cheerful pink housing that is easy to find in a drawer or on the sofa. It is a 5 mW red-dot laser, laser class 3B, that runs on two AAA batteries (included), so it is ready to play the moment it arrives. Most cats cannot resist a dot darting across the floor, and many dogs love a short chase too: a few minutes of laser play is an easy way to get an indoor cat moving on a rainy evening.

How to play safely

  • Never in the eyes of people or animals – not even for a moment. Keep the beam well away from faces.
  • Aim at the floor. Move the dot along the ground and low walls, never up towards your pet's head.
  • Keep sessions short: five to ten minutes is plenty.
  • End with a real toy. Finish by letting the dot land on a toy or treat your pet can actually catch, so the game ends with a win.
  • Avoid mirrors, windows and shiny floors that can reflect the beam.

Ending on something real matters. A dot can never be caught, and some animals become restless or fixated on lights if every game ends without a catch. Watch your pet: if it keeps searching for the dot after the laser is put away, play less often and rely more on physical toys.
